Hi Birds of Prey,
Thanks for your note. I completely understand your concern! I’m wondering if you read through the article too quickly and missed my mention of men of other races? You’ll notice in my celebrity freebie list that I include Idris Elba and Michael B. Jordan, who are two Black actors. You’ll also notice that I talk about how I’d look forward to dating in 2020 because there would be more choices than just white guys. As I mentioned in the article, I went to school in the Midwest where there was very little diversity, and liked white guys partly because of availability. Also, in my mention of meeting my husband, I wanted to be clear that I fell in love with a kind and warm guy who happens to be white. Not that I landed a white guy and should be congratulated on my success. I have casually dated men of other races (Asian and Indian) but left that out of the article because I thought the examples I mentioned above were enough to let the readers know that my tastes expanded over time. I admittedly was very small-minded in high school and fixated on white guys, but what I hoped to communicate in the article was how my tastes shifted over time. If you think my examples are too subtle, please let me know. I certainly don’t want to be promoting a kind of reverse racism where it seems like I’m promoting dating white guys over all other races. In any case, thanks for your concern and your feedback. If after re-reading it you feel like there are adjustments I can make in the article to make my point clearer, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Shanna
